Supplier Visit Blog 1: Falcon Food Service Equipment

Joe Upton |

CaterDirect’s mission is to make the complicated catering equipment industry simple for the end user.

To achieve this, we work with a selection of core brands and product lines that we know well. Utilise years of industry experience ensure that we understand the full picture, how good the product is at new, as well as what the product is after hours of use.

The service doesn’t end at the payment of an invoice. It’s an ongoing relationship and we want to ensure our customers come back to us time and time again.

We feel it is important to have the personal touch for the business, with the customer, as well as our suppliers and the manufacturers.

Earlier this year we took the time to visit as many of our suppliers as possible, for a behind the scenes look at their operations, as well as to get hands on with their product lines. These visits cemented our confidence in our ability to offer their products, at good value rates, ensuring the end user is pleased with performance, productivity and price.

Falcon Food Service - July 25 - Stirling, Scotland

Falcon does the core equipment extremely well. It’s built for the daily demands of food service businesses across the country. We already knew this before our visit but gladly took up the opportunity to visit the Factory in Stirling, Scotland in July.

The building blocks of most kitchens will often feature Falcon Equipment. Whether it be their incredible G3101 6 Burner Range, for traditional use that all cooks are familiar with, to their much newer induction ranges and cooktops found in high end restaurants or canteens. Fryers, Grills, Solid tops, flat tops, electric grills and a lot more is on offer.

Lead by our RSM Melanie D'Aubney and National Sales Manager Paul Bayer, Leigh and Joe were first given a full presentation of Falcon’s history, where they’ve come from and what direction is next. We also met the key members of staff, from the office, to service and marketing support.

Following this, we were also provided with a full kitchen demo by Lainox’s Chris Noble, who cooked up a full menu of treats for breakfast and lunch - utilising multiple items from the Falcon/Lainox catalogue. It was also our first hands on with the newest Lainox Combi Oven, as well as the Oracle, their high speed offering.

As demand for efficient cooking via methods such as induction increases, we learnt more about them to understand where they can benefit our clients, answering the question of why they should invest in them, over potentially cheaper traditional gas setups.

An insightful factory tour was also provided by MD Chris Clark, who took the time to show us around each step of the manufacturing process, to the warehouse and distribution. He also explained the upcoming changes they are making to their factory operations, ensuring their efficiency and ability to meet increasing demand. The facility is impressive, and you can easily see why they are great at what they do.

Joe had the following to say:

'What an incredible visit to the Falcon Factory and thank you again to the entire team for hosting us. We already knew Falcon Equipment was a must for CaterDirect, and armed with new all of the new information, knowledge of improvements to their processes and the factory upgrades coming, the visit has ensured  for the long term that Falcon is very much a cornerstone to CaterDirect’s product range. Essential equipment in the same way it is for our clients, we can rely on them'.
